As voting is nothing more than legally sanctioned opinion polling, it is reasonable to expand the process in several directions. We could create an advisory system of “micro-voting” that would allow constituents to weigh in on virtually anything. For example, legislators could propose their decisions to the microvoting system first, allowing them to gauge the opinions of their constituency and amplifying the voice of all Kentuckians. Although this system would be entirely advisory, it would serve as a valuable laboratory for further democratic progress.
